The Irish Presidential elections and the New York Mayoral elections, held less than two weeks apart, delivered definitive victories for two centre left political outsiders. The Connolly and Mamdani campaigns have been compared, analysed and dissected, by supporters and detractors alike. Supporters see these victories as an indication that the
Horizon Magazine operates under an open letter policy “Protesters gather outside Ireland’s parliament over Yves Sakila’s ‘disturbing’ death”1 The use of single quotation marks around ‘disturbing’ in this BBC article is an interesting one. May Day is more than just a celebration of the victories of the working class, it’s also a day of reflection. It’s an opportunity to gaze into our collective past, to consider what we have lost, to reckon with the heights from which our class has fallen. From
Horizon Magazine operates under an open letter policy In the 2024 General Election, People Before Profit-Solidarity sought to give the electorate the choice of voting for a socialist candidate regardless of where they were living.
